The image features the Cinderford Town A.F.C. * squad, dating roughly from the late 1960s or early 1970s.
My father, Gordon Blake, is standing in the back row, first on the far left. He was a player for the club during this competitive era before going on to establish Gordon Blake Funeral Directors in Lydney and Cinderford in 1982, as well as serving as chairman for the Lydney Bowls Club. We are still trying to figure out the identities of the other gentlemen in the lineup.
* – now thought to be Whitecroft AFC – Ed.

    This is a Whiteccroft side late 60s early 70s Gordon Blake Glyn Davies Richard Powell John Remnant Brian Hawkins Rowland Elsmore.

    (from John Whitney ) Are we sure it’s not Whitecroft? Many players from there on that photo. Besides Gordon Blake. Goalkeeper John Remnant. Front row ‘Hector’ Morris and Dave Elsmore. Plus other Whitecroft faces I recognise.

      John I don’t think Butch Elsmore is on there, it”s definitely Whitecroft though..

    Hi Colin. I wasn’t sure about Dave E. He played for Whitecroft Juniors when I was playing for Lydney. Just thought it looked like him.
