An image showing Fred Boughton and Kath Morris wedding photo from 1922

Boughton – Morris, Drybrook, Gloucestershire, 1922.

My mother was born in the Forest of Dean – maiden name Eileen Boughton. I have this photo of her parents wedding and would love to know who some of the people in the photo are.
My grandparents (ie the bride and groom) are Alfred Thomas Boughton (1897n – 1985) and Kathleen Maud Morris (1901 – 1968). My grandfather was born at Loquiers Farm, Harry Hill, Drybrook, and my grandmother in Wigpool. The wedding took place in 1922, presumably in Drybrook? I would love to know who some of the people in the photograph are.

Research by Eric Nicholls:

I have had a look at the Alfred Thomas Boughton and Kathleen Maud Morris wedding photo. This the best I can offer. To misquote Eric Morecombe – all the right people but not necessarily in the right order!

First, the Gloucestershire BMD website states that the marriage ceremony was at a registry office in the Westbury on Severn Registration District. If there was no office in Cinderford then the nearest would, I think, have been at Newnham on Severn.

People in the photo: suggestions:-

Looking at the 1911 and 1921 censuses Alfred Thomas Boughton had three brothers – Cecil was the youngest, who would have been about 15 at the time of the wedding and does not appear to be on the photo. Ivor who would have been 20 and may the one in the centre of the three to Alfred’s right or stood next to him on his right. He also had an older brother, Gilbert Victor, who was married and would have been 32 and may be the third man on Alfred’s right. The woman next to (possibly) Gilbert may be his wife, Nora Emily.

The older woman on the bride’s left may be her mother, Alice Elizabeth and next to her the bride’s father Andrew. The bride had two younger sisters, Marjorie Nina, who would have been 11 and Ellie Christina, who would have been 14 – maybe the two bridesmaids with the flower baskets? Alfred Boughton had two sisters, Gladys, who would have been 34 and Nora who would have been 23 – maybe the two older bridesmaids? Gilbert and Emily Boughton had two daughters, Ruby, who would have been 12 and Constance who would have been 4 – maybe the girls next to the two older bridesmaids?

Alfred’s father was Abraham about 59, and his step mother was Selina Mira about 47. Abraham may be the man stood immediately behind the bride and Selina to his right?
