Who Killed the Bears?

Note that the report (quoted from the Littledean Police Court) implies that all the men were from the "Ruardean neighbourhood".
Ian ... added (January 2015): "... it has been rumoured that a family member of mine was involved in the 'who killed the Ruardean bears'. It is said that Mr Bond - Bailiff, of Cats Hill farm was asked to bring out his gun to shoot the bear. This has come to light after going though my deceased mum's belongings & finding some articles, plus this being where the family tree starts 'Bond' & it would be great if you were able to add anything to this story plus anything else about what the [William 1830?] 'Bond' did in the area thanks Ian ..."

A William Bond appears in the 1891 census at Ruardean - age 55 Ostler, b. 1836 Kempsford, Gloucestershire, England. Also his wife 3 sons and 2 daughters.
