A photo taken in Cinderford High Street in May 1945

Cinderford High St in May 1945

A shop at 53 High St, Cinderford believed to be celebrating the end of WW2 in Europe – with Alfred Thomas and Eleanor Anne Marshall.

The pictures concern my Mother’s parents, i.e. my Grandparents. Slight error in the text, it should read end of WW2 in Europe
A question to ask people; can anyone remember perhaps with a photo the celebration to burn an effigy of Hitler held at the entrance of the Red & White bus depot in High Street? If memory serves me correctly he (Hitler) was suspended from a rope held high up. A further comment, after they had retired and moved away the lane adjacent to their shop was given the name Marshall’s Lane. …
