The three girls on the large photo, from left to right, are Heather Johnson, Sylvia Kiely and Gwen Roberts, all from the Tutnalls area of Lydney. It was taken by Gwen’s dad who was a driver on the railway. Coincidentally, he was a friend of Stan Nelmes from Bream who was a guard on the railway.
Ten years after this was taken Sylvia would marry Bryan, Stan’s son. Sylvia and her friend, Janet Cook, would go on to run the Family Affair shop on Brockhollands Road, Bream which later became the Post Office.
