Update from the working group 01 August 2023
Hi everyone
The good news is that on our last visit to Dean Academy we arranged a wet weather alternative entrance, which is actually better than our original way in !!!
So whatever the weather we shall now be using the “Library room” ,which is shown as “L” on the revised plan attached, (plan is above) for the signing in welcome process & badges etc etc.
It is simply 5 yards to the right of your pathway as you walk along on the way in.
It has counters & desks for signing the attendance sheet, picking up pre-written badges & having new badges made.
See you on Saturday.

Update from the working group – 26 July 2023
Just to clarify some questions, this day is open to everyone, whether ex-pupils of LGS or not & other than payments for food & drink there will be no charge.
Site Plan
Above is a plan of the school site & car park to help you find your way around on the “big day” of Saturday 5 August when the school will be open for our exhibition from 11.00am to 4.00pm.
Welcome Area
Having parked your car, come in to the school between the new gym & science block “D”, follow the path and carry on straight forward to the “welcome area” by the side of the restaurant block “C”.
Attendance Sheet
There will be a designated place where everyone can put your name & details on the “attendance sheet” since we would like to have a record of everyone who came on the day.
Name Badges
We are assuming that those of you who have booked & paid for afternoon teas will definitely be coming on the day so we have already written up badges with names etc waiting for you to collect under the permanent awning .
This should speed things up as you arrive.
For everyone else without a badge already filled in, please give your details to the welcome committee who will produce your badge for you.
At this stage we should say that we thought that these readily visible name badges on lanyards would be a great help when chatting to each other – possibly avoiding any embarrassment in not recognising old colleagues some 50 years or more later!
Exhibition
Most of the exhibition will be in the Exhibition Hall shown “A” on your site map & there will also be a “photographic loop” showing a selection of photos of past days in the “Audio Visual room” labelled “E” on the map.
Two science labs in building “D” will also be open for a brief look between 12.30pm to 1.30pm.
Pillowell Band
We are very fortunate to have the Pillowell Silver Band who will be playing near the restaurant block between 12.30 & 1.30pm.
Afternoon Tea
For those who have pre-paid for the “Afternoon tea”, in either Sitting 1 or Sitting 2 the restaurant block is shown “C” on your plan.
At the entrance to the restaurant there will be seating plans for both Sitting 1 & Sitting 2 with people on hand to show you to your tables.
Sittings
For Sitting 1 doors open 12.00noon, food from 12.30pm to 1.45pm and
For Sitting 2 doors open from 2.15 pm, food from 2.30pm to 3.45.
Please note places for both Sittings are now closed.
Tea, Coffee, Biscuits
Tea, coffee & biscuits, shown in classrooms “B” on the site plan, will be available on demand. We hope that there will be enough space in these rooms to sit down & carry on chatting.
Weather
We have got a plan in the event of wet weather, which will be obvious in such circumstances, but we will not bother you with it at this time.
Looking forward to seeing you all on the 5th August.

PHOTOGRAPHS

As you can imagine, we have already got lots of photos to help us to decide what to display on the day.
However we could do with more photos showing girls’ sports over any of the years, so if you have anything in this category please scan & send to Brian James.
We could also do with a wider choice of “more modern” photos for all subjects from 1963 to 1973, so again if you have got anything really interesting from this era, please scan & forward to Brian James.
Looking forward to seeing you on 5 August.
