Sturgeon caught in the river Severn near Lydney, Gloucestershire in 1961.

Joe wrote: "... 2 photos of sturgeon caught in the Severn I know nothing about except the man in the suit is Alec Buffrey ( my father). On the back of one of the photos is written" 1961 sturgeon caught in the Severn in my mothers ( Peggy Buffrey's) handwriting. These could have been taken either in Lydney as dad was manager of the Citizen office in Lydney at the time or in Cinderford ..."
Derek Beard added: "... I am quite sure man holding fish in the second photo is Howard Harris at his house in Alvington. He was my father-in -law during the 1970s. My father Tom Beard and his father and brother, both named Jim, were salmon fishermen in Lydney, whereas Frank fished for salmon at Alvington".
Jamie Hammond added (March 2026): "... The two people mentioned are named incorrectly . It's either Joe or his brother surname Harris and Bob Hammond.
