Trevor wrote: "... This group photo was taken outside the school canteen of Lydney infants/junior school, Hamms road - now the site of Severnbanks Surgery. It was probably taken in the late 1940’s or early 1950’s. The Man in the picture is my Dad (Jim Davies, later to work for Duramin when they first came to Lydney until his retirement in 1975 at the age of 66) He drove the delivery van, suppling hot meals to other schools in the area that didn’t have kitchens. My Mother (Lily) also worked there briefly before I was born. I think the lady in the second row (with the darker overall) was known as Queenie?".
Daid Meek added: "... That's my nan! Mrs Rene (Irene) Ellis on the left of back row, from Severn Road and Primrose Hill before that. (nee Clifford, born in Nympsfield). Queenie Christie is the white-haired lady in the dark overall, (1st left 2nd row) she lived in Tutnalls Street, wasn't married and a second cousin to my Dad (John Meek) from Cinderford. According to my mum, Hilda Meek (nee Eliis) it's Joyce Brinkworth in middle of 2nd row, Gran Davis 1st left on front row and (Miss?) Powell, possibly the lady in charge of the canteen on right end of front row. Looking to see if we have the same photo and any notes!".
