The Great British Stores, Lydney, Gloucestershire.

Roger wrote: "... Great British Stores on Hill Street (next to Kear's Opticians, in the premises that has recently been Wongs Cuisine, Manchurian and a carvery) At least one of the people shown is supposed to be a Wilcox relative of mine. Not sure which though".
Two people have mentioned the Stores becoming George Mason's in the 1950's - one recalls the store "had those mechanical bill and change machines that zoomed around on tracks on the ceiling".
John Bunker added: "... When it was George Masons it was the 'sort of Sainsbury' of Lydney - anyone who was anyone went further toward The Cross and shopped at Williams & Cotton. George Mason's closed when I think Fine Fare opened in early 1960's".
