See this page for more information about the Lydney & Aylburton medals.

The death certificate shows that 'Buller' was killed age 23 by a gunshot wound.
Pte Lewis 38476 of the 1st Battalion of the King's Shropshire Light Infantry died on 16-5-1918 at 13 Casualty Clearing Station, France.

Peter Essex added: "... Buller Lewis appears on SunGreen ... It appears my great-grandmother took in the Lewis boys after they were orphaned".

Ruth Probert added (February 2024): "... Buller who was my grandfather's brother, is buried in Arneke, a small village about 30 miles away from Calais. I am pleased to say that in 2018, the 100 year anniversary of his death, my husband, son and I went to pay our respects at his grave and left a little bit of soil from Lydney harbour - taking a little bit of home to him. My father said years later, whenever my grandfather spoke about Buller he would cry. They had been orphaned in 1908 following their mother Rosina taking her own life".
