Graham Turner added: "... Not sure of the date - late 1950s/early 1960s. The car on the extreme left is the maroon and gold Vauxhall owned by Les Giles proprietor of Radiolec. Woodside was run by Tom Walding who had a property at the top of Foundry Lane. I believe that Bollom was previously a shop run by ? Davies famous for it's faggots!",
John Phillips added: "... The shop to the left of Radiolec was Westaway's (later Williams & Cotton) grocery shop. Bolloms (later Johnson's) dry cleaners had formerly been Mrs Davies' pie shop. The shop on the right of the picture has the name "Burton" on the awning. This was nothing to do with Burton's the tailors but was one of a multiple grocery chain. It later became Fine Fare. On the extreme left of the picture the facade of the Midland Bank (HSBC) is just discernable. I cannot be certain of the exact date of the photograph but must be mid-1950s - probably the same age as the photo of Market Street, also on this website. ..The tobacconist and confectionery business was originally run by two spinster sisters, name of Boud".
