Above: Clarice Maud James - born 1904.
Clarice Maud James was born in March 1904 to William Henry (Harry) James and Emily ( nee Hampton) at Lansdowne House, Bream. She started work in the Co-op at Bream and then for a few years in Ilfracombe also at the Co-op there. She was cashier at Williams & Cotton, St Briavels during the war years afterwards taking over the Sweet Shop in High St, Bream from her mother. She died in 1996 at the age of 92.

Edith Emma was born in February 1907 to Frank Cook and Minnie (nee James) in Bream. Minnie & Harry were brother & sister. I believe they also kept a shop in High Street in what became John James furniture shop ( no relation).
They moved to Woodville, Parkend Road, Bream and Edith lived there until her death in 1988. She did dressmaking.
