She started work in the Co-op at Bream and then for a few years in Ilfracombe also at the Co-op there. She was cashier at Williams & Cotton, St Briavels during the war years afterwards taking over the Sweet Shop in High St, Bream from her mother. She died in 1996 at the age of 92.

A photo of Edith Cook of Bream

Above: Edith Cook born 1907.

Edith Emma was born in February 1907 to Frank Cook and Minnie (nee James) in Bream. Minnie & Harry were brother & sister. I believe they also kept a shop in High Street in what became John James furniture shop ( no relation).
They moved to Woodville, Parkend Road, Bream and Edith lived there until her death in 1988. She did dressmaking.
