Mr W F Mullen is the teacher on the left.

I suspect that the photo contains a member of the Batten family: Thomas Reginald ("Reg") - born 1892, Mary Maude ("Maude") born 1893, Caroline Mabel ("Carry") born 1899 or James Thomas Albert ("Tom") born 1901. If the children are aged 5 - 10 this would date the photo between 1897 and 1911.

Mr Mullan is assuming an identical pose in a photo of Bream Junior Standard 4c dated 1906 in Ian Hendy's book "Meet at the Schools" (Lightmoor Press, 2007). - GKD
