Bream Infants School - early photo.

Roger Davies wrote (March 2008): "My great-great aunt was Selina Durnell (29) who was a teacher in Bream. In 1881 she was living in Mill Hill, Bream with Sarah Mann another teacher listed in your 1879 Kelly's Directory. Also living there was her niece Mary Alison Ann Phipps ("May") at the age of 5".
"In 1891 Selina(39) and "May" (15) were living in Bream Eaves.
In 1901 Selina had left but her two nieces "May" (23) and Alice Phipps (19), now both school teachers, were living at Mill Hill again".
"In 1896 Selina married the Reverend Henry Dandy who figures prominently in your Parish magazine excerpts before moving to Kingswood".
"We are now certain that the lady teacher in the above listed picture is Mary Alison Ann "May" Phipps, my great aunt. It is a pity that the picture is undated and damaged".
