The Tank - Flourmill Colliery, Bream

A rare photo of what was known locally as The Tank. This was a reservoir used for cooling purposes at the Flourmill Colliery. It was a popular (though disapproved of) place to swim. This photo dates from about 1948. Brian James is sitting on the wall of the Tank.

Above, the flat area is the site of the remains of The Tank in April 2023. THe dimensions are 26m by 26 m approx. Some of the concrete walls remain.
