Note the horse and cart outside Hirst's shop (the white building far left). The old butchers shop (Snippets) hadn't yet been built. The Co-op is also yet to be built, the tree trunk on the right appears to be the result of clearing the site ready for it's construction. The depressions probably mark the positions of the trees before they were felled. The stones on the bank to the left may have been dumped there awaiting use for road repairs.
