Bream, the New inn 1913

Postcard
dated 1913. The New Inn is on the right behind the pony and trap. The
name of the landlord is E.H. Birt. The Cross Keys Inn is opposite, the
pub sign being to the left of the group of three men. The building behind
the New Inn was a former Police Station. The same year a book,
The Maypole was the original centre of the village of Bream, although by 1913
businesses, houses, chapels and the schools were sited on the other side of the
hill, extending the village nearer to the Princess Royal colliery which provided
employment for many of the men in the village
