Bream Cenotaph 1921

Bream Cenotaph 1921 (40k)

Bream Cenotaph pictured shortly after its construction. Note the lack of railings and the lack of any names on the northern face. Behind the Cenotaph to the left is Williams and Cotton and to the right is Forest View.

The Sun Tump on which the Cenotaph stands was the site of a massive VE Day celebration in 1945. A pig was roasted all day long and a massive bonfire was constructed, there were even fireworks, Peter Richards remembers "people wondered where on earth Mr Treherne, from the shop, managed to get the fireworks from considering there had been a war on !"
