Charles Benjamin Morris Morse of Yorkley.

An old photo of 3 Yorkley-ites that emigrated to New Zealand.

"Charles Benjamin Morris Morse was born 2nd October 1842 at Yorkley and was a carpenter by trade.  He was the son of George Morris Morse of Lydney who married Martha Billy on 13th November 1841 at St. Briavels.  Charles married Jane James of Yorkley Slade, daughter of Thomas James and Isabella Robbins on 3 October 1863 at Cinderford St. Johns.  Pictured with Charles is his wife Jane and his sister Julianna Elizabeth Morse born 24th July 1844 in West Dean.  Julianna had married John Willetts born 1835 Yorkley on 2nd December 1861 at Parkend St. Pauls.  They all emigrated to New Zealand on the Tip Tree from London in 1863.  This included his parents George Morris Morse and Martha Billy.  In the 1861 census Martha was an innkeeper at the Loyal Forester at the Tuft of Beeches on the borders of Yorkley and Oldcroft".
