Peter wrote: "... The picture is of my GreatGrandfather John William Clark 1868-1960. He was born in Wimbledon. To Ann Clark nee Barber of Woolaston and John Robert Clark of Brixton. Johns mother Ann left London for unknown reasons and came back to Woolaston in 1891. John at sometime followed her. There he met and married Kate Phoebe Thorn the daughter of William and Phoebe Thorn nee Shillam. William Thorn is the Blacksmith of the Blacksmith Arms Pub in Alvington.
The Thorns ran the pub up until 1960 I believe".
John's son, Tom Clark, one of 11 children, was a well known gardener around Woolaston. Tom spent his working life at Lydney Tinworks, interupted by service in the Royal Navy during the second world war.
Peter wrote: "Here is the Thomas Clark mentioned above. Tom was one of the areas more colourful characters".
