"Can anyone describe what the Ancient Order of Foresters did?".
Roger Whitehouse added (Jan 2009): "Ancient Order of
Foresters ? Not sure, but there was an Ancient Order of Shepherds and this
was a 'Friendly Society' offering a sort of insurance to pay for certain
medical needs (such as spectacles) or hardships - I think! (I remember my
Father being a member)".
Mike Jones added (May 2011): "... Afraid I had a hand in demolishing the Old Warehouse to make way for the Millennium Green which I project managed on behalf of the Village. Problem was it was too low down in the flood plain to be put to use. The District Council commissioned a Historian Surveyor to carry out a comprehensive survey with the view of rebuilding when funding could be found but that has not materialised so far. I'll send you some pics in due course"
