Mining remains at Castlemain Colliery, Parkend.

Terry wrote: "... I've just come across these photos taken last year. They are from Castlemain colliery (Parkend) The shaft was re-opened so it could be filled in and made safe. The frame in the top photo was removed from the top of the shaft. This was the latch assembly to lock the cage when it got to the surface. It enabled the miners to open the door and leave the cage. You can see the short steel pins which held the cage. The other photos are a set of wheels from a coal cart and the chain and hook was used to latch carts together. I'm not sure if the frame is still there or if it has been scrapped ..."
