The Bell of St Marys church, Lydney.

Bob's description of this event follows :
On July 27th 1969 a peal of Stedman Triples was being rung on the bells
at St. Mary's Church, Lydney. This peal was due to take about three hours
and just over half way through it was found that there was something
wrong with the sixth bell. The peal was stopped and short time later
the spindle holding the bell broke and the bell fell down into the frame.
Luckily the bell was undamaged.
The end result was that the bells were repaired and later upgraded from eight
bells to ten.
I was the conductor of this peal and the following day took a number of photographs
of the damage of which the above photograph is one. I find this picture interesting
because part of the inscription ( ABR RUDHALL CAST US ALL) is clearly visible.
