Paul Barnett of The Friends of Purton identified the vessels on the shore: Left to Right: Stroudwater barge Nibley, Unknown ICI small barge, Unknown ICI small barge, Unknown ICI small barge, Unknown ICI small barge, Stroudwater barge , Llantony, Stroudwater barge Onyx, Wasp, Ripple, mottor barge Venus*, Berkeley former Precilla, Lock gates, Unknown , Unknown.
* Paul added (October 2019): "It has now been established that the barge Venus is in fact barge Pleone".

Alison Badger added (June 2011): "... Viscount Bledisloe was Governor general of New Zealand in the early 1930s and on his return to Lydney Park had a considerable number of NZ memorabilia. I worked at the Park office in the 1970s and now live in New Zealand where the Bledisloe name is recalled with great affection having purchased the Treaty House at Waitanga and then given it to the nation of New Zealand".
