Gloucestershire A.T.C. rugby trial January 13th 1945
Ron wrote: "This was a trial to select players from Air Training Corps throughout Gloucestershire to form a team to play Cornwall A.T.C. Members of Lydney Grammar School A.T.C. participated and these are indicated below:
Back Row: 1 Ken Penn (LGS), 2 ?, 3 Fred Haddock (LGS), 4 Lindsay Lewis (LGS), 5 John Taylor (LGS), 6 Don Hughes, 7 ? Smith (LGS), 8 ?, 9?.
Front Row: 1 ?, 2?, 3 Croomb? (LGS), 4 Norman Talbot - captn. (Sir Thomas Riches Crypt School), 5 ?, 6 Michael Bollen (LGS)"
Nigel Phillips added (December 2011): "...Correction Front row 4 Norman Talbot Crypt School - not Sir Thomas Riches their arch rivals. I believe he went on to play Rugby for Gloucester in the late 1940s before becoming the games master at Linden School in Gloucester".
