Lydbrook Harlequins rugby tream in 1910.
Lydbrook Harlequins Rugby Football Team season 1909-1910
Written on the photo (cropped out) is G W Young Lydbrook - was this the photographer?.
Peter Young added (December 2013): "... The first picture of the 1910 Harlequins was taken by the photographer G. W. Young. He was my great Grandad. He was based on Howle Hill in the Old Post Office, that was his studio in 1910 before he moved his studios to Ross in the early 1920's. He took many pictures in the area of Lydbrook, Wye Valley and Ross on Wye. I have the camera which was used to take this photograph".
One of these players may have performed the legendary feat of kicking the rugby ball over the Viaduct?.
Janet Kear added: "... is the date correct? The lad 2nd from the left in the front row looks very much like a young Fred Kear who played for Lydbrook RFC. I believe Fred was born in1905 which would make him too young to be in the photograph if the date is correct" - (see Fred in the 1926 photo below).
Below is a newspaper cutting of Lybrook RFC from the 1925- 1926 season:
