Ian grew up in Berry Hill and remembers being picked up and taken to the party by Edwards coaches. This party was at the cable works. Ian's father worked at Cannop colliery before moving to the cable works.

Jackie Boseley (nee Powell ) added (February 2021): "I am in the second row and second from the right. I used to love these Christmas parties and can still smell the machine oil ! We used to walk through part of the factory on our way to the entertainment".
