Rose Cottage, Ellwood.

Rose Cottage

Max wrote: "... postcard sent to my auntie Hilda of Mrs Pace's house at Ellwood from my grandfather and grandmother. Hilda was in service in London at the time".

The house was the scene of the alleged murder of Harry Pace in the 1920s.

Tony Jenkins added (June 2011): "... My family, Jenkins, moved into Rose Cottage in 1929 after the Beatrice Pace murder trial. My Grandmother lived there until the property was purchased by my Aunt and her husband about 1968. The photo is exactly as I remember the house which had no electricity or running water. Water had to be collected from a tap in Ellwood. I believe there was also a well half way down the Futtrill on the right hand side".
