Miners on Lords Hill in Coleford.

Lords Hill (42k)

Annie Brooks with her sons outside their home in Lords Hill Coleford approx 1905. The boys sitting on the doorstep in the picture were born in 1895 and 1896, hence the supposition that the photograph was taken around 1905.

Alan Roberts added (May 2008): " My father, Bob Roberts told me that the house formerly belonged to John Brown and the other house next door belonged to Dolly Adams. He thinks just after the Great War. My dad was born in Gloucester Road in 1924".

Sally Taylor added (December 2014): "...My father was John Brown. He never owned either of the houses, his was the house next door to the right of the picture where the railings are".

Valerie Compton added (March 2017): "... Just looking at this lovely photo and recognised names. My Gt.Grandfather also John Brown married to Louisa Ireland lived at 36 Lord's Hill. My Father who was born in 1905 used to visit his Grandparents every Sunday. Florence Dorothy "Dolly" Brown their daughter was married to Harry Adams. Another daughter Lily Brown, was married to Alfred Jack Roberts. ...".
