Coleford Town Centre pre 1968.

Gill wrote (Nov 2008): "I am not sure of the date of this picture of Coleford except that it is pre 1968 as the Town Hall is still standing. It looks much as it did in the fifties when the shops were as follows:- High Street from the left E.B.Barter Fishmongers. The Feathers Public House.Geo Badman & Co Jewellers. Frank Blanch. Chemist.White & Miller Butchers. Trotters. The Unicorn Public House. Mr Jim Kilby's Blacksmith Shop. Terrett Taylor & Co Ironmongers. W Mundy Hairdresser and Tobacconist. Solicitor ?. General Post Office. R.J.Adams Painter & Dec.Behind the High St shops can be seen Dr J Battle's garden at The Marshes where the St John,s Church Fetes were held for many years.The builders yard at Terrett Taylors stretches right back to the railway station.The four shops in the middle right of the picture in Market Place are Birts Stores. Baxters Butchers. T Bolter Hairdresser &Tobacconist and Williams & Cotton Grocery".
