Cinderford Wesley Pantomime in 1958.

Wesley Panto

Wesley Pantomime of 1958.

1 Sheila Meredith 2. Sheila Baker 3. Grace Body.

Carole Morefield added: "... I think the middle person is Sheila Baker from Hilldean .."

According to an article in The Forester dated January 14 2015 (pg 16) "The players began in 1954 when the Wesley and St Stephens churches united to give Sunday schoolchildren something to do in the New Year period".
"Now based at the The Miners Welfare Hall the Cinderford based group will perform throughout the second half of January... One mainstay - and the driving force of Wesley Players' annual pantomime for more than 50 years was Elsie Olivey. There wouldn't have been a pantomime without Elsie said Lynn Teague, who has taken on the mantle of directing the annual production... She said ... the present day company comprises approximately 50 members, with the youngest aged five". ... "For our 60th production we have invested in and updated the stage at the Miners' Hall which is now our new home. We remain graetful to the Methodist Church. Over the years a great partnership was formed between the Wesley Church, St Stephens Church and the panto group with many former vicars and members of the church taking part".
