John Burniston added (November 2020): "... I was evacuated to Coalway, Mr Jarvis was headmaster - caned by him for spilling ink over ?Molly Jenkins (back). Miss Pritchard was the teacher. I could be the pupil second row, middle 9 hair over forehead OK-lets see!".

John further added (May 2026): "... (in the) 1940's I was at the school, (as an evacuee).The headmaster Mr Jarvis gave me the cane for spilling ink on the back of a girl in the front desk - 3 hand strokes.
I am now 91 back in Folkestone .
Lived in Victoria cottage old Coalway with Mrs Tyler - my father worked for Mr Immins in Coalway.
Sat in a downed German Messersmitt on display in Coleford square.
Watched our pig slaughtered,then eating the innards half of the pig salted & hung up in the scullary.
