Fox's Corner, Whitecroft Rd., Bream.

Gill wrote: "Fox's corner - my grandmother's house "Elmsleigh" at the junction of Bowson Road and Whitecroft Road, Bream. The small hut at the side was added on when my grandmother's brother, Will Stone, was injured playing rugby league and needed somewhere to be nursed. After this my grandmother opened a small grocery shop here, which was used by people locally and miners going to and from the pit. The figures in the photo are Mrs Fox's four daughters - Glo, Ciss, Stella and Doll".
Gillian Ward added (July 2023): "... I remember Fox's corner. So many happy memories of the early 1960s, when i used to spend school summer holidays with my Aunt who lived in Bowson Road just up from Fox's shop. She used to give me money to go and buy sweets and sometimes a loaf bread. Such happy memories. My grandmother used to live in a cottage at Clements End, and i used to walk there from my Aunts. We spent many happy days with my grandmother".
