Jo wrote (June 2007): "This is a photograph of my great great grandfather Thomas Dobson Cowles (born Dec 1850), father of George Tom Cowles who was born 5th May 1874. A farm labourer, he lived in Shutcastle, Bream and was married to Susan, Annie (nee Tyrrell)".
The photo probably dates from around 1910.

Allwyne Cowles added (March 2008): "I believe that this gentleman is also my great, great grandfather. He had at least one other son, Hubert David, born 31st Dec; 1875 in Taynton, Gloucestershire, who moved to/lived in York. My fathers name was Joseph Thomas, born 11th April 1910".

Tom Cowles was a tenant at Shutcastle Lodge Bream (near Flourmill Colliery - but now demolished) in 1901. (Geoff Waygood - The new Regard No 19 2004)

Jan Geddes added (Apr 2009): "Thomas D was a brother to my Great Grandfather, Richard John Cowles b 1848. Thomas D Cowles was the son of George Cowles and Mary Ann Cherrington. I would love to have contact with anyone connected to this family and share information. Jan, New Zealand.

Glinys Field added (Apr 2009): "Tom D Cowles is the brother of George, my gt. grandfather who married Mary Ann Foyne. George came to Birmingham where he settled and had a family".

Jocelyn Le Page added (June 2009): "Thomas Dobson Cowles is my great grandfather. His daughter, Agness Susie Kate Cowles is my grandmother. She went to Guernsey, Channel Islands, UK and married my grandfather, William Ogier".
