Carpenter family, Bream

Wendy wrote (Oct 2008): "My name is Wendy, my Dad was born in 1926 in the family home on Parkend road Bream, he was the third child of Emma and Charles Carpenter. Dad moved from Bream when he married my Mother, Sylvia Osborne in 1949 and our family home was Ullenwood, The Pludds. We emigrated to Australia in 1964, and have lived here since. I am attaching some photos that you may like to use on your website ; Old photos of the Forest of Dean".

Top Left: " of my Granch Charles Carpenter (right) of the photo. I am unsure who the other gentleman is on the left, my Aunt thought maybe Mr. Williams??? Or Mr. Green???".Wendy added: "The photo of my Grandfather was taken on his way home from work. He worked at the Princess Royal Colliery. Charles Albert Carpenter was born on June 29th 1888, his parents were Jabez and Ann, he lived at the Parkend Rd home from 6 weeks of age, until his death. Charles was killed on the 14th of July 1953 (65) at the Colliery, due to an accidental fall of coal and rock from the roof of the Princess Royal. He was due to retire within two weeks and I have been told that he swapped his shift as a favour to another collier ???".
