This was the first time that Bream won the Forest of Dean Combination Cup. The original trophy was donated by Viscount Bledisloe in 1895 but was not competed for as the Forest of Dean Combination Cup until 1913-1914. For some reason Bream decided not to enter the competition until 1945. Source: Forest Rugby Review (Yorkley RFC) - Patrick Harvey c1957.
Bream also won this cup in the 1970 - 1971 season.
A list of Forest of Dean Combination Cup winners can be found on the Lydney Rugby Club web site.
This photo, along with many others, is on display in the Stan Wildin Players Bar at Bream Rugby Club.
The photo was taken at the club H.Q., the Rising Sun Inn, Bream. Ken Vaughan, top left, later became Landlord of the Rising Sun.

John Belcher added (April 2018): "... I was reserve for Bream on that day, having just returned from a school long distance walk in Wales with Jack Chamberlain. Piffer Smith scored the winning try from halfway. I was presented with a cup though".
