Bream Amateurs

Image: Bream Amateurs 1960s

These photos supplied by Colin Henderson show action from a game played on Bream Amateur's former football pitch. The pitch was located behind what is now Bream Rugby Club, which can be seen in the centre of the bottom photo. To the left of the white house shown in both photos is the back of what is now now Bream Auto Store. At the time of the photos it was Bream Post Office, run by Mr and Mrs Joe Selby. The hut to the left in the bottom photo is where the teams had tea at half-time. There was even a "tin" (corrugated iron) Stand for spectators at the bottom side (to the right) of the pitch. Behind the Stand was St James churchyard.
Colin is in action in both photos playing for Bream (in stripes). As any Forester who follows sport will know, Colin has been a great Forest sportsman, also playing both both cricket and rugby for Lydney and later as manager of Lydney R.F.C. 1st XV.
