Cecil, Fordson V8 lorry
John wrote: "This is a Fordson V8 lorry that was new in July 1937 to Bert Cecil. Its registration number was was CDD 361. The body was modified to 'covered' for taking miners to their Forest pit, possibly the Princess Royal. Bert did 3 shifts carrying the men, and in between he removed the top to carry allowance coal deliveries, so neither he or the lorry stopped for long!".
"It was bought in 1939 by M J Cox brother to Reg Cox of Ellwood. Reg is shown in the photo. Reg nicknamed it "The Horsebox" (- information supplied by Mr Brian Cox). The picture was taken during the war years, note the blackout covering on the headlight".
Gary Pritchard added (August 2014): "... I have just seen your picture of the Fordson lorry CDD 361, I thought I would reply as I am in the process or restoring an 1937 fordson and the reg is CDD 121, these must have been built very close together but have very different bodies ... " Gary would appreciate any leads for parts for his restoration - click below if you can help.
