| This
is a rare photo of Flourmill Colliery, Bream. Note the horse patiently
waiting to pull the drams. Thanks to the great grandson of Billo Nash who added: "My Great Grandfather worked for many years at the Flour Mill Colliery , his name was William Nash of Sling (originally from Marsh Lane). He was more commonly known as 'Billo' and I believe he worked in the boiler house as he only had one arm and wasn't allowed to work underground. He was also a great musician playing the cornet in local bands and was also known to make toys for local children at Xmas time as he was a talented wood craftsman despite his handicap. I still have his rather rustic false arm and hook that was made for him by the blacksmith at the Flour Mill following the accident that 'removed' it for him!" |
