The Kings Head was known to locals as "Dappers". Dapper was the nickname of a pre-war landlord "Dapper" James. Dapper's son Basil took over the pub just prior to the Second World War, but gave it up shortly after returning from active service. Reg Moore was then the landlord until 1949. Finally for the last years, Dave Price was the landlord. Dappers closed around 1975.
- if anyone can give me a more accurate account of the landlords or any other info on Dappers, I would be glad to add it to this page - Geoff Davis

H J Warren added (Nov 2009): "... John Watts chauffeur is Fred Page. Mr Page was also landlord of the Globe Inn, Alvington in the late 1950s".
