Old photos, memories and ephenera of the Forest of Dean

About Sungreen.

The SunGreen Web Site was set up in the late 1990s. The site is run from Bream in the Forest of Dean by Geoff Davis. The site started with a few old family photos and a few old photos and postcards of Bream and the surrounding villages.

Since then, many images and articles have been added to the site and help has been provided by Malcolm Norris and David Powell of Bream. Dave has sought out material and helps with the Woolaston area where he grew up. Malc is an experienced transcriber and has done much family history research for himself and others. Malc also does research and transcription for this site.

Many other people have helped with information for the site including, my parents Joan Davis and John (Harold Henry) Davis, members of Bream Friendship Circle, Hylton Miles, Ken W Sollars, Alice Cook, Melville Watts O.B.E., Jennifer Hancocks, Stuart Akers, David Haynes, Gerald Cook and John Wilcox. Many many other people have contributed and helped and these people are listed of the contributors page.

Sun Green itself is an area of Bream. It was formerly sometimes refered to as Bream's Green. Like much of the Forest of Dean, Sun Green was first settled by encroachment of crown land. Prior to 1854, when it became a Parish in it's own right, Bream village itself was a detached part of the parish of Newland.
