Rob wrote: "Attached is a photo (taken about 1920), of pupils of Ruardean school"."The lad standing in the centre row, on the extreme right (as viewed),and in front of the gentleman ,is my father, Francis Thomas Leslie Davies (known as Les). He was the son of Frank Davies. In later years he ran a dance band known as "Les Davies and the Kestrel boys".
"Also centre row, and in the centre of the picture, the shorter lass with the large white bow in her hair is my dad's cousin-Daphne Marfell. Daphne also lived on Pettycroft (all of her life). She was the Ruardean schoolteacher for many years, and in later life married to become-Daphne Hunter-Booth".
