Phil wrote: "...In March 1947 Redbrook suffered the worst flooding in living memory. The shop of Ron & Doris Hudson was submerged up to ceiling level. Nonetheless this photo shows that despite all the damage Doris seems to be enjoying the dubious pleasures of the River Wye! ... Many families suffered greatly and some houses were rendered unfit to live in and were condemned. This included Rose Cottage which lay at the bottom of the village (now occupied by a private garage). It was the home of Jim & Olive Hudson who subsequently went to live in Bristol in the early 50's. Olive lives in Caterham in Surrey c2007".
