Valerie remembers this photo being taken by an itinerant photographer, who chanced upon the family when the men were home for vittles (lunch) from the quarry.
Yvonne also added (May 2006) "My grandfather held the right to work quarries at the Futtrell (on the opposite side of the rail / road track to The Point quarry) and also had a quarry somewhere near Ellwood. I remember accompanying him when he "blew" a chimney stack at either Ellwood, Milkwall or Gorsty Knoll - around 1939, I was about four at the time".
