Peter Essex added: "... A man in a boater popping up in old photos is one of the great Forest mysteries. This one could be identical with the boatered gent who appears for example in photos on pages 2 and 34 of 'A Glance back at Lydney'. But why is this apparition now seen lurking half way from Parkend to Cinderford?".
