may
be
of
interest. It was taken by me in the Fountain
Inn, Lydney, on New Year's Eve 1955 at the Landlord's request. The three seated
are Tom Jones, Graham Powell and Maurice (Soo) Thomas. I
don't know any of the others"
A comment was left (Jan 2009): "I do not recall a pub of that name in
Lydney...Parkend maybe?"
Terry added: "That's interesting, because I couldn't remember the name of the
pub, until I
looked at my negative list, and it says for that strip "Feathers, White
Hart, Fountain", but "Fountain" is in different ink. My original
thoughts
were that it was the Feathers, if that is found by leaving Lydney Town Hall,
turning right towards Lydney Town Station, and keeping on the right of the
road. I'm sure it is not the Fountain at Parkend, because we didn't call in
there. The landlord asked me to give him copies, which I did when I came
back home for Easter in 1956, and I got a pint for my trouble".
H J Warren added (Jan 2009): "I am certain that this is
The Feathers
Hotel, Lydney. The fellow holding the Punch Bowl? is the Manager at that
time, one Mr Beck who later moved to a coucil house in Garlands Rd,
Alvington".
Mr Kerry Letheren added (Mar 2009): The lady on the right in black coat
standing next to her husband who is wearing glasses are my grandparents Fred
and Glawdys Letheren and we are sure that the lady to the right of Mr Beck
is Mrs Merrett and her husband Jack Merrett is standing behind her to her left".
