The occasion was an award for long-standing staff.
David Long added (August 2010): "... I worked in the cinema with Mervyn Harris, Brian Price and Ray French. Mervyn was a very good boss. That was my first job after leaving school. We had a good time. I left at eighteen for national service in the Royal Horse Guards and that was a bit of a shock. When I had finshed my 2 years the cinema was running down so I did not go back" .
