Sheep
Dipping at Cannop around 1913.
Geoff wrote (Feb 2008): "This photo of sheep dipping at Cannop, was taken about
1913 and shows William Watkins and his children".
1 - William Watkins (my father)
2 - (mostly hidden) Fred Watkins
3 - Frank Watkins
4 - (partly hidden) Selena Watkins
5 - Florence
Watkins
6 - Ada
Watkins
7 - Ben
Watkins
8 - William
Watkins
(my
grandfather).
"The name of the photographer is H. Warren, 19, St. Mary Street, Monmouth".
Because
sheep
roamed
free
in
the Forest, sheep dipping also often took place in the Forest itself.
Geoff says the exact location is in the wood coming from Broadwell on the left just before Cannop Crossroads, and the water is flowing from an old mine working.
