The photo was taken at Broadwell but I would like to know the year
[ 195? ] and what the cup was for".
Melvyn Jacobs added (October 2007): "The cup is probably the Dilke Hospital Cup. My father is William Jacobs. My mum still has all is medals and can name the team. I was born in the clearwell also".
Stacey Gunter (Grand-daughter of Gerald). added (Sept 2008): "The game was played
at Broadwell on the morning of Easter Monday 1952. Until 5minutes from
the end the score was 1-1. The Clearwell goalkeeper saved a penalty in
the last few minutes and Clearwell then scored. Clearwell ended up winning
the game 2-1. The Clearwell goalkeeper Gerald Gunter went on to play in
the Welsh Amateur League for Monmouth Town. Unfortunately Gerald Gunter is
the only member of the team alive".
