Thanks to Derek Jones who pointed out the following:
" The photo is taken in Sling Hall and is almost certainly the annual xmas party organised by the Miners Welfare Comittee who also organised an annual party for the O.A.P.'s of the district. Clements End Chapel used the chapel itself for any parties etc like their Faggot and Pea Suppers".
".. the parties were probably subsidised by the local employer Mr Fred Watkins of Sling Engineering Works, I remember him arriving one year with his son Roderick and a nanny I believe and Roderick joined us for the party but left straight away after, obviously not wishing to join the peasants in a rough game of musical chairs or spin the plate etc!"
